What a crazy time, right? In no time at all, coronavirus has turned everything we have defined as our everyday life upside down.

Both privately and commercially, we are suddenly faced with a challenge that we have never met before.

From the complete lockdown of individual sectors of the economy to short-time work and the switch to working at home: all of a sudden, our familiar structure with its recurring processes was gone.

And with it financial security. “What next?” – A (valid) question that no-one could answer at first. And even now it is still unclear how the situation will develop in the longer term.

Through the crisis together

The first shock has now been digested. The show must go on. Tentative easing of requirements is finally in sight and, even if this will hopefully bring some (new) normality, the last few weeks have shown us quite clearly the importance of digitalisation for companies.

First and foremost, marketing. In this case, however, marketing means much more than just selling and making sales. If you stay in touch with your customers and at the same time give them the feeling that you are there for them, you will benefit in the best case from a strong community that will remain at your side even after the crisis.

But this only works if you recognize their needs and react to them. Interaction is required.

Customer loyalty in the digital world – how does it work?

Social media is one of the most important means of communication and marketing right now. Many companies are more present than ever before to keep their customers up-to-date during the coronavirus crisis.

Why does this make strategic sense? On the one hand, users spend considerably more time on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram due to lockdown and contact restrictions.

On the other hand, there is an intense desire for information, communication and transparency in such a strange time.

The last point in particular should not be underestimated. If you already have regular customers, they are of course interested in your offer continuing to be available to them during the coronavirus period and in you coming through the crisis unscathed. But to do so, they need to know how you are doing and how they can best support you at the moment.

Depending on the area in which you work, they may have the following questions, for example:

  • Are you still available? When?
  • What are your current opening hours?
  • Are there any specific things to take into account for orders or deliveries?
  • What safety precautions must be taken during an on-site visit?
  • Are there special offers like food-to-go, vouchers, etc.?

If you do not yet have a Google My Business entry, you should get one as soon as possible. Why? With a company profile, you can easily be found via Google Maps or the classic Google search.

Your customers can call you or write you a message. These contact options meet the desire for the above-mentioned transparency and at the same time facilitate provision of all important information. And what’s the best thing of all? This entry is completely free!
